Liturgical Ministries Descriptions
Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion
An Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion assists in the distribution of Holy Communion with a sense of reverence, hospitality, and care for people. Ministers generally serve every 2-3 weeks, with schedules posted each month. A minister must be a fully initiated Catholic able to participate fully in the sacramental life of the church. Initial training and yearly refreshers are provided. Contact Carly Markert for more information.
Lectors
Lectors proclaim the readings and petitions at Mass. Interested parishioners should be articulate and comfortable reading in front of the congregation. Lectors generally read every 3-4 weeks, with schedules posted each month. A training session is offered to help familiarize you with the church. If you have any question, call Doris Dickson at 307.635.4651
Ushers
Ushers greet people as they arrive and help them find a seat. During Mass, they assist in collecting money at the Offertory, may bring up the gifts, guide the congregations in receiving the Eucharist, and distribute bulletins after Mass. Other duties include removing items left in the pews after Mass. Parishioners over the age of 16 are encouraged to join this ministry. Training will be provided. Call Mike Scott 307.635.5644
Greeters
Greeters provide a friendly face and welcome to parishioners and visitors as they arrive for Mass. They may be called upon to answer questions or give directions (Where is the bathroom?). They may take up the gifts of bread and wine. If you'd like to be a greeter, call Carly Markert.
Altar Servers
Our altar servers assist at the Lord’s Table for Sunday and Holy Day liturgies. This is a great way for our youth and families to be involved and to learn more about the liturgy. Interested parish members must have made their First Holy Communion and should be responsible, dependable, respectful, and committed. Servers are scheduled for about 1 -2 Masses each month (more if there is a holiday or Holy Day). Training is provided. Call Deacon Dave Zelenka or Cameron Smith for more information.
Musicians
Singing is praying twice! What better way to invite the Spirit to our worship than music sung and played from the heart? Everyone is invited to become involved in music ministry, even those without prior experience. The only requirement is a willingness to work in a group and desire to sing the praises of God. Song leaders, cantors, choir members and instrumentalists of all kinds are needed for all weekend liturgies.
